Kate Fun mezzo-soprano, is a
Yorkshire lass who was lured away to the bright lights of London to
study singing at Trinity College of Music. Ten years on and she now
teaches singing part-time at the Latymer School and Camden School for
Girls. Her real passion, however, is sitting up straight and she is an
Alexander Technique teacher.
Maryliese Happel having been
christened with a stage name naturally pursued the theater until it
gave up and let her play. From Adele in Die Fledermaus to Zerbinetta in
Ariadne auf Naxos, her vocal career is characterized by singing lots of
high notes really, really fast. When she runs out of these, Maryliese
aspires to a louche life on the Left Bank as a Parisian cabaret singer.
Elizabeth Potter began
her musical life at the piano; it was only as a teenager that she
discovered her voice. During school music lessons she was just louder
and higher than everyone else! This led her to seek out as many high
notes as possible and won her many roles such as Mozart's "Queen of the
Night" and obscure contemporary music such as Stockhausen's "Solo",
where she battled it out with a computer and tape-sequencers. Liz's
voice has now matured and she loves singing low notes too!
